Tricia Grey
Tricia is a certified SLS (Speech Level Singing) instructor, who began her vocal study with Seth Riggs at the age of 19 in Los Angeles, CA. Seth Riggs is the originator of the SLS (Speech Level Singing) technique, which enables a singer to sing through the "bridges" of the voice easily, with no abrupt changes in power or quality, and no "breaks" in the voice. This revolutionary vocal technique is recommended by the producers of "American Idol", and is considered to be the standard of the recording industry today.
Tricia
taught voice while performing as a professional singer in Los Angeles for over
25 years before moving to New York and then Atlanta. As a performer,
she was a paid professional in both classical and pop genres, and she brings
her expertise in all styles of music to her students. Tricia was the lead singer
and
keyboard player for many Los Angeles bands,wrote and recorded original songs,
sang on many demos and sessions, and co-owned a popular recording studio
in Los Angeles, where she helped produce new artists.
Additionally, Tricia has made a thorough study of the craft
of songwriting while working with many of Los Angeles' and Nashville's finest
songwriters. She
believes that songwriting ability is an essential ingredient to success in today's
music industry, and many of her students study songwriting with her as well
as
voice.
While performing,Tricia also earned a Master's Degree from the Hartt Conservatory in Vocal Performance. She believes that good technique can be applied to any style of singing, and that a voice teacher should enable the student to sing well in any style- pop, rock, country, R&B, jazz, classical, or opera. Tricia continues her professional education as a Speech Level Singing instructor by ongoing study, masterclasses, seminars, classwork, and yearly testing which is required to maintain certification as an SLS instructor. She highly encourages her students to attend the Summer Intensive Program in Los Angeles, California which is designed to bring artists to their greatest potential.
